APC Clinches Enugu North Senate Seat as Ikeje Asogwa Wins By-Election

The Enugu North by-election ended in victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its candidate, Ikeje Asogwa, secured enough votes to claim the vacant Senate seat.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the result after collating votes from all six local government areas in the senatorial district. The declaration confirmed Asogwa as the winner of the keenly contested poll.

According to the Returning Officer, Professor Christian Ezeibe, the APC candidate polled 162,360 votes, comfortably finishing ahead of the other contestants.

INEC Declares APC Candidate Winner

The Enugu North by-election was conducted to fill the Senate seat left vacant after the death of the district’s former lawmaker.

Following the final collation of results, INEC officially declared Asogwa the winner. He will now represent Enugu North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

The outcome also gives the APC a significant political boost in Enugu State, where the party is seeking to expand its influence.

Victory Signals Fresh Political Momentum

The result is expected to shape political discussions in Enugu ahead of future elections.

Although attention has now shifted to the new senator’s responsibilities, political observers believe the outcome could encourage the APC to strengthen its campaign efforts across the South-East.

Other parties are also expected to assess their performance and adjust their strategies.

Meanwhile, residents will be watching closely to see how the newly elected senator delivers on the expectations of the people.
