Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has reassured citizens that the country will overcome its current security challenges, expressing confidence in the ongoing efforts of President Bola Tinubu to restore peace and stability across the nation.
Speaking during a meeting with traditional rulers in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, the First Lady acknowledged the growing concerns over insecurity, including kidnappings, banditry, and killings that have affected many communities.
Despite these challenges, she maintained that the Federal Government is working relentlessly behind the scenes to address the situation.
According to her, President Tinubu remains fully committed to protecting lives and property and has continued to engage both local and international partners in the fight against insecurity.
Oluremi Tinubu revealed that the administration has strengthened cooperation with countries such as the United States and other developed nations while also implementing internal security measures aimed at dismantling criminal networks and violent groups operating across the country.
She admitted that the security situation has created fear and uncertainty among many Nigerians but insisted that significant efforts are underway to bring lasting solutions.
“The President is doing everything possible to ensure that peace returns to every part of the country. A lot of work is going on that many people may not see, but I can assure Nigerians that security remains a top priority,” she said.
The First Lady further claimed that some of the individuals responsible for acts of violence and terror are not Nigerians, stressing that the country must remain united in the face of such threats.
She encouraged citizens not to give in to fear, describing Nigeria as a strong nation capable of overcoming its present difficulties.
“No matter what we are facing today, Nigeria will overcome. This country is too great to be intimidated by those who want to create fear and division,” she stated.
Oluremi Tinubu also called on Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting the government’s efforts through cooperation and prayers.
She noted that President Tinubu’s commitment to tackling insecurity goes beyond regular working hours, saying he remains focused on finding lasting solutions to the crisis.
“We do not have weekends when it comes to this issue. The President is working every day and night because he understands the importance of securing the lives of Nigerians,” she added.
During the meeting, traditional rulers renewed calls for tougher laws against kidnapping and other violent crimes. They also advocated for the establishment of state police, arguing that it could strengthen security operations and improve response times at the local level.
The monarchs stressed that addressing insecurity requires a collective effort involving government institutions, security agencies, community leaders, and citizens.
As concerns over safety continue to dominate national discussions, the First Lady’s remarks reflect the government’s determination to confront the challenge and restore public confidence in the country’s security architecture.
