Kwankwaso Says Loyalty to Buhari Came With Sacrifice But No Reward

Kwankwaso Laments After Delivering two million Votes for Buhari.

Former Kano State governor and senior political figure, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has spoken about the frustration he and his supporters experienced after backing former President Muhammadu Buhari during the elections.

As reported by Daily Post Nigeria, Kwankwaso made the revelation while appearing on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Monday evening, where he reflected on the sacrifices made by his political camp at the time.

According to him, his movement invested heavily in Buhari’s success and delivered close to two million votes during the election. He explained that the support was built on trust, loyalty, and the belief that those who worked for the victory would eventually be valued.

Kwankwaso said many members of his political structure dedicated their time, resources, and personal safety to ensure the election campaign succeeded. Despite the risks they took and the commitment they showed, he claimed that they were later sidelined after power was secured.

The former presidential candidate explained that the situation left many of his supporters disappointed because they expected their efforts to translate into political inclusion and development for their communities.

Speaking during the interview, Kwankwaso recalled how difficult the political struggle was at that period, noting that several people stood firmly behind Buhari even when it came with serious risks.

“We gave everything we had at that time and mobilized almost two million votes,” he said. “A lot of people around us sacrificed greatly because we believed in the project.”

He, however, lamented that after the election victory, the people who worked hard for the success of the administration were not properly acknowledged.

According to him, both individuals and communities connected to his political movement were left without the recognition or benefits they hoped for after contributing massively to the election outcome.

Kwankwaso also turned attention to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying many Nigerians are currently unhappy with the condition of the country.

He stated that the hardship being faced by citizens has increased public demand for a different political direction. The politician stressed that frustration is growing not only among political leaders but also among ordinary Nigerians struggling with the economy.

In his view, the current challenges facing the country have strengthened conversations about change ahead of future elections.

He noted that people at the grassroots are becoming more vocal because they feel the direct impact of rising economic pressure and governance issues.

Kwankwaso’s comments have already generated reactions within political circles, especially among supporters who believe political loyalty should come with appreciation and inclusion.

For many observers, his statement was not just about personal disappointment. It also touched on the wider issue of how political allies and supporters are often treated after elections are won.
