Trump Promised Tougher Economic Sanctions on Iran and Any Country Helping Them

The US president warned that countries helping Iran could face severe economic punishment as Washington steps up pressure on Tehran.

US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose sweeping economic measures on Iran and any country that continues to help or do business with Tehran.

President Donald Trump took to social media this week to announce what he called “economic D-Day” on Iran. The 60-day ceasefire between the US, Israel, and Tehran just ran out, and there is no peace deal in sight.

Trump promised, “the most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country.” But the real warning was aimed at everyone else.

“ANY country that allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities to provide any type of lifeline to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences,” he wrote. He called out oil smuggling, cash transfers, and front companies, adding, “it all needs to stop NOW. You know who you are.”

The message is clearly aimed at major players like China, which buys massive amounts of Iranian oil. It also follows the UAE severing its own financial ties with Tehran after Iranian missiles splashed into the sea near its coast.

Iran is not backing down. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi fired back online, calling the threat a distraction from America’s own money problems.

“Doubling down on failed policies will only bring further defeat and enmity of Iranians,” Araghchi wrote.

The financial squeeze is already tight. Back in April, the US launched a naval blockade and sanctioned foreign banks dealing with Tehran. But Iran has kept the pressure up by choking the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for global oil. That move has pushed energy prices up, putting heavy pressure on Trump ahead of the November midterm elections.

The ceasefire is dead. The wallets are closing. Now the world just has to wait and see who blinks first when the financial pain really starts to hit.
