Wike Not a Land Grabber, FCT Minister Replies Critics

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that he is involved in land grabbing in Abuja.

Speaking on the allegations, Wike insisted that he is not a land grabber and challenged anyone with evidence against him to come forward. The former Rivers State governor said the accusations are part of efforts by critics to tarnish his image and distract attention from the work his administration is doing in the FCT.

According to him, people often make such claims because of politics rather than facts.

Wike Not a Land Grabber, Says Allegations Lack Evidence

Wike maintained that the accusations have no basis and are driven by political interests.

The minister said he has become a target because of his position and the reforms taking place in Abuja. He argued that some individuals are unhappy with decisions taken by the FCT administration and have chosen to spread negative narratives about him.

“I am not a land grabber,” Wike said while addressing the issue.

He stressed that land administration in the FCT follows established procedures. According to him, no one receives land outside the legal process, and every allocation goes through the appropriate channels.

Wike noted that public officials often face criticism when they take tough decisions. However, he said such criticism should be based on facts and not on allegations that cannot be proven.

FCT Reforms Continue Despite Criticism

The minister said his administration remains focused on improving Abuja through infrastructure development and stricter land management policies.

Over the past months, the FCT administration has pursued several projects aimed at upgrading roads, public facilities, and other critical infrastructure. Wike said these efforts are part of a broader plan to improve the capital city and make it more attractive for residents and investors.

He explained that enforcing regulations sometimes affects powerful interests. As a result, some people react by attacking government officials responsible for the reforms.

Despite the criticism, Wike said he will not be distracted from his responsibilities.

He added that the goal of the administration is to ensure transparency and accountability in land matters while promoting orderly development across the FCT.

Wike Urges Public to Focus on Facts

Wike called on residents and members of the public to judge his administration based on its achievements rather than allegations.

He said people should examine the projects being delivered across Abuja and assess whether the government is meeting its promises. According to him, visible development should speak louder than political accusations.

The minister also encouraged critics to provide proof if they believe any wrongdoing has occurred. He maintained that public debates should be guided by evidence and not speculation.

For Wike, the conversation should remain focused on how the FCT can continue to grow and attract investment. He said his administration is committed to creating a capital city that meets modern standards and serves the interests of residents.

As discussions around land administration continue, the minister remains firm in his position. Wike said he is not a land grabber and insisted that all actions taken by his administration comply with the law.

The FCT minister concluded by assuring residents that development, transparency, and responsible governance will remain key priorities under his leadership.
