JAMB fixes its admission portal and orders public universities to finish student admissions by October 31, 2026.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) has fixed its computer portal used for university entry after it stopped working for some days.
The exam body released an official statement on Monday, September 28, 2026, telling all students and higher schools across Nigeria that the website called the Central Admissions Processing System(CAPS) is now working properly.
The board told all universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education to work fast so that students do not lose their school year.
Because the computer portal went down for some time, many schools could not give admission letters to students who passed their exams.
Now that the portal is working again, JAMB has set clear time limits for every type of school to complete their student selection.
Public universities run by federal and state governments must finish all their admissions by October 31, 2026. Private universities have until November 30, 2026, while polytechnics and colleges of education have until December 31, 2026, to wrap up their admission process.
The exam board pleaded with students and parents for the brief delay caused by the computer system going down.
Reassuring everyone that the website is now fully active for school heads and students to use, JAMB stated:
“JAMB apologises for the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption and thanked candidates, institutions and other stakeholders for their patience and understanding.”
The board also gave simple instructions to young people who wrote the National Examinations Council SSCE exams and were waiting for their results before applying to higher schools.
JAMB advised these candidates to go to any approved computer center to upload their O-level results to the official website so schools can see their grades and offer admission without delay.
Urging higher schools to speed up their work to recover the lost days, the exam body stated:
“JAMB urged institutions to recover lost time and ensure that admissions were completed within the stipulated timelines for the 2026/2027 academic session.”
Students who have already been offered admission are advised to log into the portal immediately to check their status.
If a school offers a student admission, the student must click the accept button on the screen so that the board can print their official admission letter.
JAMB warned that any student who fails to accept their offer on time might lose the seat to someone else before the final closing date arrives.
