Abuja High Court orders Jordan Wike to show his American passport over a $2.1 million land business fight.
A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama, Abuja, has issued a strict order to Jordan Wike, the son of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
The judge told Jordan that he must bring his American international passport to court to prove where he was when a big land business deal happened.
This court order came up during the hearing of a huge court case involving a $2.1 million land agreement that went wrong between Jordan Wike and some business people in Abuja.
The serious court fight was brought before the judge by Safwan Garba GY and his company named GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited.
They took Jordan Wike to court, claiming that he collected a huge amount of money running into millions of dollars to help them secure sixty hectares of prime land in the Federal Capital Territory.
However, when the case came up in court, Jordan denied all the bad things written against him, telling the judge that he never took part in such a business transaction on the date the buyers claimed the event happened.
To defend himself against the claims, Jordan adopted his written statement on oath before the court and stated that he was not even inside Nigeria when the money was said to have been given or when the agreement was signed.
When the lawyer asked him which document he used to travel out of the country during that period, Jordan explained that he traveled with his foreign passport.
He went ahead to tell the judge that he could easily bring the document to show everyone if the court needed it as proof.
Following this statement, the lawyer representing the people who filed the case, Mr. Dantani, quickly told the judge that the court should officially force Jordan to produce the travel document so that everyone could verify the entry and exit stamps inside it.
The lawyer also made another request, asking Jordan to write his full name and sign his signature five separate times on a plain white paper right inside the courtroom so they could compare his handwriting with the signatures on the land documents.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the presiding judge, Justice Sylvanus Oriji, agreed with the lawyer’s request.
Justice Oriji granted the application and directed Jordan Wike to bring his American international passport to court.
The judge then postponed the case to Wednesday so that the hearing could continue and the travel document could be examined carefully in the open courtroom by all parties involved.
Neither Jordan Wike nor his legal team released any public statement after the court session ended. The court expects Jordan to present his travel document as instructed so the judge can determine if he was truly out of the country during the land deal.
