FCT Minister’s Son Jordan Wike Denies Involvement in $2.1m Abuja Land Deal, Claims Signature Was Forged

Jordan Ezenwo Nyesom-Wike, the son of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, has firmly denied any involvement in an alleged $2.1 million land deal in Abuja.

Speaking before a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday, the lawyer stated that the signature on a key document presented by the claimants was completely forged. He also noted he was outside the country during the time the alleged transaction supposedly took place.

During cross-examination by the claimants’ counsel, Hamza Dantani, Jordan flatly rejected the idea that he received any funds or signed any agreements.

“I did not receive any money from anybody. I did not sign any document for a land deal. I only found out that my signature was on the land document just like anyone else in this court yesterday,” he told the judge.

The controversy centers on a complex web of allegations brought forward by a group of claimants who say they were defrauded. According to their case, they met Jordan in London and later approached him in Abuja to help facilitate the acquisition of 60 hectares of land in the Katampe and Guzape districts.

The claimants allege that Jordan demanded a $2.1 million facilitation fee for the job. They further claim he told them that $2 million of that amount was intended for his father, the FCT Minister, while the remaining $100,000 was his personal cut.

According to the plaintiffs, the money was delivered in cash in the presence of three witnesses, while Jordan was reportedly accompanied by a man identified as Onor Sandy. They claim that after receiving the money, Jordan failed to provide the land or refund the funds and eventually stopped communicating with them.

Jordan dismantled this narrative in court, pointing out major inconsistencies in the claimants’ story. He noted that the date they initially claimed he received the cash, September 26, 2025, was a day he was actually on a British Airways flight from Abuja to London.

When asked which passport he used to travel, he stated it was his American passport. The claimants’ counsel had previously applied for Jordan to produce this passport to establish his whereabouts on that specific date. Justice Oriji granted the application, and Jordan subsequently provided a photocopy, undertaking to produce the original whenever required by the court.

“I never had any friend named Onor Sandy, and I did not have any deal with anyone regarding a land deal,” Jordan stated.

He also pointed out that the claimants had changed their story. After their initial claim about the September date in Abuja, they later altered their account to state that the transaction actually occurred in October 2025 in Harriot, London.

Jordan denied receiving the $2.1 million or signing any acknowledgment of payment. He emphasized that the passport number listed on the disputed document was not his current passport number, noting that the number on the document had already expired in 2022.

To help settle the matter, the claimants’ counsel asked Jordan to write his full name and signature five times each on plain paper. This was to allow for a direct comparison with the disputed documents. The application was not opposed by the defence and was promptly granted by the court.

The court has now ordered Jordan to produce his original passport for verification and to provide the handwriting samples. The final judgment will rest on this hard evidence, leaving the heavy allegations to be tested by the strict rules of legal proof.
