David Mark Condemns Benue Killings, Calls for Justice and Lasting Peace

Former Senate President and National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has condemned the recent Benue killings, saying the blood of innocent victims cries out for justice.

He described the attacks as painful and unacceptable. The former Senate President urged the Federal Government to take stronger action to protect lives and restore peace in affected communities.

In a statement released on Sunday, Mark said every Nigerian deserves to live in safety. He stressed that protecting lives and property remains the government’s foremost responsibility.

According to the ADC chairman, continued violence threatens national unity. Therefore, security agencies must strengthen intelligence gathering and respond more quickly to attacks.

Beyond the violence in Benue, Mark expressed concern over recent attacks in Plateau State. In addition, he lamented the abduction of passengers travelling in a Benue Links commercial bus along the Otukpo–Taraku–Makurdi highway.

The statement urged the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to increase surveillance in vulnerable communities. It also called for closer cooperation among security agencies to tackle violent crimes effectively.

Furthermore, the former Senate President demanded the immediate rescue of the kidnapped Benue Links passengers. He insisted that security personnel should continue search operations until every victim regains freedom.

Addressing the Benue killings, Mark maintained that those responsible for the attacks and kidnappings must face justice. He warned that failure to prosecute offenders could encourage more violence across the country.

Meanwhile, he said no community should remain at the mercy of armed criminals. Instead, the Federal Government should adopt practical measures that will restore peace across Benue and other parts of the North-Central region.

Mark also appealed to community leaders, traditional rulers, and residents to support lawful security efforts. Such cooperation, he noted, can help prevent future attacks and improve public safety.

As stated by daily post,Concluding his message, the ADC chairman said the blood of innocent victims cries out for justice. He urged all stakeholders to unite in ending the violence. He added that Nigerians deserve security, justice, and lasting peace.
