Funmi Adelakun, the 37-year-old daughter of veteran gospel singer Joseph Adelakun, popularly known as Baba Ayewa, has appealed to Nigerians to help her regain her freedom.
She made the appeal during a live video shared on social media. In the video, she asked Nigerians to beg her father to stop monitoring her life. She also urged him to allow her to live independently.
According to Funmi, her father has closely supervised her since childhood. She claimed the situation has continued despite her age.
“My name is Funmi Adelakun. I want everyone to help me beg my dad because I need my freedom,” she said. “He should stop monitoring me and trying to have access to everything about me. He has been doing this since I was young, and I just want my freedom.”
Meanwhile, the video has drawn widespread attention online. Many social media users expressed concern about her wellbeing. Others shared different opinions about the family dispute.
She said Funmi left her family home months ago because she wanted to make her own decisions without constant supervision.
However,Funmi does not plan to return to her parents’ home for now. She appealed to anyone with useful information about her whereabouts to help ensure her safety
As stated by daily post,For now, Singer Adelakun’s daughter continues to receive support from many Nigerians online. Joseph Adelakun,has not publicly responded to his daughter’s claims as of the time of filing this report.
