Ogun State Police Command has started registering and checking all special supernumerary police officers operating across the state.
The police leaders in Ogun State have started a big plan to count, check, and write down the names of all special police officers working across every city and town.
These special officers are known as supernumerary police, or SPY personnel for short. They are security workers trained by the police force but paid by private companies, big banks, factories, and government offices to protect their buildings and money.
The police started this major exercise on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and announced that the work will continue every day until October 7, 2026.
The main reason why the police command is doing this exercise is to make sure that everyone wearing the special police uniform is legally registered and truly qualified for the job.
Over the years, many private businesses have hired security guards, but the police want to be completely sure who these workers are and where they are working.
By checking everyone carefully, the police want to keep bad people from using fake police uniforms or bad papers to cause trouble or commit crime in the state.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, released a clear message to all companies, banks, and private organizations that employ these special officers.

He directed all the bosses of these businesses to send their special security workers directly to the Police Public Relations Department located inside the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters at Eleweran in Abeokuta.
Explaining where all the special security officers must go to complete their checking, the police spokesperson stated, “Accordingly, all organisations with SPY personnel are directed to ensure that their personnel report to the Police Public Relations Department, Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta”.
Listing the exact papers and items every special officer must carry to the police station, the police officer said, “They are required to come with their training certificates and photocopies, warrant cards or certificates of ‘To Whom It May Concern’, recent passport photographs in approved uniform, and other relevant documents”.
Explaining why the police command decided to start this checking exercise, the police spokesperson added that the plan was aimed at “strengthening the proper documentation, verification and oversight of SPY personnel in the state”.
The police command emphasized that this step is a smart way to watch over all special security operations across Ogun State.
They warned that any organization or special officer who refuses to come for the checking before the October 7 deadline may face serious trouble with the law.
The police want all businesses to help them make the state safe for everyone to live and work peacefully.
