“See Light!” — Nigeria Lady Celebrates as Power Returns After Years

A woman from Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has expressed excitement after electricity returned to her area after years of poor power supply.

The woman shared her excitement in a video posted on Facebook, where she showed viewers that electricity was available.

“Hi guys. Since how many years now, light never come for this Ikwo,” she said.

She explained that power had been available since the previous day, describing the development as something worth celebrating.

“Since yesterday, light dey. I beg, make I show you,” the woman said as she turned the camera towards the area.

She then proudly showed viewers the electricity supply, repeatedly pointing out that there was light. Her excitement highlighted the frustration residents can experience when they spend long periods without reliable electricity.

For many communities, prolonged power outages affect homes, businesses and other daily activities. The situation can also increase dependence on generators and raise operating costs for residents and small businesses.

The Ikwo resident, however, appeared hopeful that the recent improvement could signal a better period for the community. She also expressed hope that the current government would deliver more positive changes for residents.

“E be like say this government we enter, them go do us well,” she said.

The video has since drawn attention because of the woman’s genuine excitement over something many people consider a basic necessity. Her reaction also reflects the wider concerns surrounding electricity supply across Nigeria, where communities frequently experience prolonged outages.

For residents of Ikwo, the recent restoration of electricity appears to have brought a welcome sense of relief. Whether the improved supply will continue remains uncertain. However, for now, the return of electricity has given residents a reason to celebrate.
