Eight people died after a dispute between a farmer and a herder escalated into deadly violence in a Kebbi community.

SP Bashir Usman, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kebbi State, confirmed the incident. He said the clash occurred at about 3 p.m. on Monday. He also confirmed that eight people lost their lives.
In addition, several others reportedly sustained injuries during the violence.
How the Farmers Herders Clash in Kebbi Started
A source familiar with the incident said the crisis began after a disagreement over a cow.
According to the source, the cow’s leg was allegedly broken while the farmer tried to chase the animals away from his farmland.
As a result, tensions increased between the farmer and the herder. The disagreement later grew into communal violence.
Furthermore, fear spread across the community as the conflict intensified.
Meanwhile, local leaders have started efforts to calm tensions and prevent further attacks.
Security Agencies Respond as Residents Seek Peace
Security operatives moved into the area after receiving reports of the violence.
