Why I Didn’t Join APC’s Osun Campaign — Wike Opens Up

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has explained why he did not join the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign during the recent Osun State governorship election.

According to daily post,Wike said his decision to stay away from the APC Osun campaign was influenced by his understanding of President Bola Tinubu’s approach to the election.

Speaking on the political developments surrounding the poll, Wike indicated that he would have been present in Osun if Tinubu had been determined to secure an APC victory at all costs.

The former Rivers State governor’s comments come as the outcome of the Osun election continues to generate reactions from political actors across the country.

Wike, who is serving in Tinubu’s administration despite remaining a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has maintained a unique position in Nigeria’s current political landscape.

His involvement in the Federal Government has repeatedly sparked discussions about his relationship with the President and his influence within the political space.

The minister’s absence from the APC campaign in Osun also drew attention because of his reputation as a strong political strategist and mobiliser. However, Wike’s latest explanation suggests that he did not see the need to take an active role in the contest under the circumstances surrounding the election.

The APC Osun campaign has since become a subject of political analysis, with questions being raised about the party’s strategy, mobilisation and level of commitment to the contest.

Wike’s remarks are expected to add fresh fuel to those conversations as the APC and other political parties assess the lessons from the Osun election ahead of future electoral battles.
