The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has raised concerns over alleged attacks on some of its members and supporters following the recent governorship election in the state.
According to daily post,The party is calling on the police and other security agencies to investigate the reported incidents and take steps to prevent further violence.
The development has added to concerns over the political atmosphere in Osun after a closely contested governorship election. The APC had campaigned vigorously for its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, while Governor Ademola Adeleke sought another term in office.
The APC said its members should be able to return to their normal activities without fear, stressing that political differences should not become a reason for violence or intimidation.
The party also urged its supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, while asking security agencies to ensure that everyone involved in the alleged attacks is properly investigated.
The call comes at a time when attention is shifting from the election campaign to the need for peace across the state. Political stakeholders have repeatedly been urged to respect democratic processes and avoid actions capable of creating tension among residents.
For the APC, the immediate concern is the safety of its members and supporters. The party wants the authorities to act quickly and ensure that the situation does not escalate.
The party’s position also highlights the broader need for security agencies to protect citizens regardless of their political affiliation and to ensure that post-election disagreements are handled through lawful channels.
As political activities continue in Osun, residents will be hoping that the tensions surrounding the election do not develop into further violence and that the state can move forward peacefully.
