Political analyst and Director of the Abuja School of Social Thought and Politics, Sam Amadi, has said the 2027 presidency Peter Obi debate is taking an unusual direction, claiming that many politicians appear to be running against the former Labour Party presidential candidate instead of President Bola Tinubu.
Amadi shared the view in a post on X, where he argued that opposition figures seem more focused on Peter Obi than on challenging the incumbent president.
“Everyone is running against Peter Obi for the presidency, not against the incumbent president, Bola Tinubu,” he wrote.
According to him, the political climate ahead of the 2027 election is unlike anything Nigeria has witnessed in recent years.
2027 Presidency: Peter Obi Remains the Centre of Attention
Amadi said the growing attention on Obi raises questions about the priorities of politicians preparing for the next general election.
He argued that rather than concentrating on the performance of the current administration, many political actors have shifted their focus to the former Anambra State governor.
The political analyst also criticised what he described as the role of some intellectuals and technocrats in the ongoing political conversation.
“This is the most farcical election in Nigeria’s history. Yet, some self-proclaimed intellectuals and technocrats are fully immersed in the illogic,” he stated.
Sam Amadi’s Comments Spark Fresh Political Debate
Amadi’s remarks come as political discussions ahead of the 2027 presidential election continue to gather pace across the country.
Peter Obi has remained one of Nigeria’s most talked-about opposition figures since the 2023 election. His political influence continues to generate debate among supporters, critics and other presidential hopefuls.
