Afrobeats star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has questioned the presence of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ebonyi State, Pauline Ugoyenka, in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
According to daily post,Davido raised the concern in a post on X while reacting to reports about Ugoyenka’s presence in the state.
The singer questioned why an electoral officer assigned to Ebonyi would be in Osun at a time when the state is preparing for a crucial governorship poll.
Davido also alleged that Ugoyenka was brought to Osun to influence the election. He linked her alleged presence to Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, although he did not provide evidence to support the claim.
“She was not deployed by INEC. What is she doing in Osun?” Davido wrote. He further warned that any attempt to manipulate the election would face resistance.
“She was sent here from Governor Hope Uzodimma to rig. We will resist you, madam,” he added.
The allegation comes as political parties and their supporters step up preparations for Saturday’s election. The Osun governorship poll has already generated significant political tension, with the major parties trading accusations over plans to influence the outcome.
Davido has also been vocal about the election in recent days. The singer previously raised concerns about the conduct of the poll and called for greater attention from the international community.
His latest comment has now added another layer to the growing debate over the election and the role of electoral officials. However, Davido’s allegation about Ugoyenka has not been independently established. It is also unclear from his post what official assignment, if any, brought the Ebonyi REC to Osun.
The development is likely to attract further attention as voters prepare to choose the next governor of Osun State.
