A close ally of former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Kabiru Adamu Abdullahi, has left the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to daily post, His defection comes as politicians across the country continue to make fresh moves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abdullahi is known as a member of the Kwankwasiyya political movement. He has also been active in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State. His decision to join the APC marks another change in his political journey.
Abdullahi had earlier left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in May 2026. He said at the time that his decision followed the position of the Kwankwasiyya Movement led by Kwankwaso.
He later joined the NDC with other political associates linked to the former Kano governor. However, Abdullahi has now chosen a different political path by moving to the APC.
The development comes at a time when political parties are working to strengthen their structures ahead of the 2027 polls. Politicians are also reviewing their alliances as the race gradually takes shape.
Abdullahi’s move could attract attention in Kano, where Kwankwasiyya remains a strong political force. His defection may also raise questions about the strength of Kwankwaso’s political camp as the 2027 contest approaches.
