The EFCC has arrested Halimat Tejuosho over alleged money fraud involving fake government job letters.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has arrested Halimat Adenike Tejuosho. She is a popular woman leader who served as the South-West coordinator for the women’s branch of the political group called the City Boy Movement.
The anti money agency caught her because of complaints that she collected huge amounts of money from different people after making false promises to help them get government jobs and big contracts.
The official news about her arrest was made known to the public on Saturday, September 26, 2026, when the official spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, spoke to reporters.
He revealed that officers actually picked her up weeks earlier on September 8, 2026, after searching for her across the country.
The EFCC had previously declared her wanted in April 2026 when she failed to show up to answer questions about the missing money and complaints from victims.
Confirming that the woman is now inside their office undergoing interrogation, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated simply, “She is in our custody”.
The reason why the EFCC went after Halimat Tejuosho is that many people came forward to report that she collected money from them while claiming she had strong power to give them government jobs and contracts.
Reports show that she allegedly showed fake appointment letters and forged papers to make people believe she had top connections in high places.
When the victims found out that the job letters were not real, they reported her to the authorities.
When the political group she belonged to heard that the police were looking for her, they immediately removed her from her position as their leader in the South West.
The group explained that they took her off the position so that the police could do their work properly without any problems.
Why they suspended her from the group: The leadership of the City Boy Movement stated in an official release that the action was a necessary administrative measure “to protect the image, credibility, and ethical standards of the Movement”.

The leaders added that removing her from office would allow the police to search for the truth “without interference, obstruction, or undue influence”.
