Ekiti Registered Voters Rise to 1.06 Million as INEC Gives PVC Update

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that Ekiti registered voters have increased to 1,059,360 ahead of the state’s governorship election scheduled for Saturday, June 20.

The electoral body also disclosed that 97.1 percent of all registered voters have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), clearing the way for millions of eligible residents to participate in the election.

INEC made the announcement while providing its latest update on preparations for the governorship poll. The commission said the final figures followed the completion of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and the clean-up of the voters’ register.

INEC Confirms Increase in Ekiti Registered Voters

According to the commission, the number of Ekiti registered voters has grown from 987,647 recorded before the last update to 1,059,360.

The increase reflects the successful registration of new voters and the update of existing records during the CVR exercise. INEC explained that the revised register will be used for Saturday’s governorship election.

The commission also noted that the high turnout for voter registration demonstrates the interest of residents in taking part in the democratic process.

With the updated register now complete, election officials have shifted their attention to ensuring that every eligible voter can cast a ballot without unnecessary delays.

PVC Collection Reaches 97.1 Percent

INEC revealed that 97.1 percent of registered voters have collected their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the election.

The commission described the figure as encouraging, saying it shows that most eligible voters are ready to participate in choosing the state’s next governor.

Officials added that the PVC collection exercise has officially ended, allowing the commission to focus fully on the final logistics for election day.

The high collection rate is expected to improve voter participation and reduce the number of eligible voters who are unable to cast their ballots because they do not possess their PVCs.

INEC Assures Residents of Credible Election

INEC said all necessary arrangements are in place to conduct a peaceful, transparent and credible governorship election across Ekiti State.

The commission urged political parties, candidates and their supporters to obey the Electoral Act and avoid actions that could disrupt the voting process.

It also appealed to security agencies, election observers and other stakeholders to work together to ensure a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the election.

INEC encouraged everyone who has collected a PVC to come out on election day and vote peacefully.

Ekiti Prepares for Governorship Poll

With Ekiti registered voters now standing at 1,059,360, the state is set for one of its most important elections.

The updated voter register and the strong PVC collection rate suggest that many residents are prepared to take part in the democratic process.

Attention will now shift to election day as voters head to polling units across the state to elect a new governor, while INEC works to deliver a free, fair and credible poll.
