Gbajabiamila gives Adeyemi 72 hours to retract allegations or face N10bn Lawsuits

The Gbajabiamila N10bn lawsuit has taken centre stage after Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, gave Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi 72 hours to withdraw allegations he made against him or face legal action.

According to punch , Gbajabiamila’s legal team, led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kemi Pinheiro, issued the ultimatum in a letter dated July 7. The lawyers demanded a full retraction of the claims, a public apology in at least three national newspapers, and a written undertaking that Adeyemi would not repeat the allegations.

According to Premium Times, the demand followed a press conference Adeyemi held on June 25. During the briefing, he accused the Chief of Staff of corruption, abuse of office, fraud, murder, and several other offences. He also claimed Gbajabiamila demanded 48 per cent of a proposed take-off grant for the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). In addition, he alleged that the Chief of Staff received N400 million through proxies linked to appointments into the organisation.

However, Gbajabiamila strongly denied the allegations. According to Premium Times, his lawyers described the claims as false, reckless, and defamatory. They insisted the accusations lacked evidence and were intended to damage his reputation and public standing.

The legal team also stated that the Chief of Staff had never met Adeyemi or maintained any personal or official relationship with him. Furthermore, the lawyers argued that the allegations had exposed Gbajabiamila to public ridicule despite his years of public service.

The Gbajabiamila N10bn lawsuit warning stated that if Adeyemi failed to comply within 72 hours, the Chief of Staff would file a N10 billion defamation suit. In addition, he would pursue criminal prosecution over what his lawyers described as defamatory publications.

Meanwhile, according to Premium Times, Adeyemi remains at the centre of investigations over the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The Federal Government has charged him with offences including forgery, impersonation, and making false claims about the existence of the organisation. Authorities maintain that the council was never legally created despite presenting itself as a government agency.

Police have also intensified efforts to locate Adeyemi as investigations continue. Reports indicate that officers recently visited his family residence in Ogbomoso while trying to determine his whereabouts.

The Gbajabiamila N10bn lawsuit now adds another legal dimension to the controversy. Attention has shifted to whether Adeyemi will respond before the deadline expires or allow the dispute to proceed before the courts.
