JAMB fired a staff member for taking money illegally from students, warning that corrupt workers will be punished.
Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially fired one of its own workers for forcefully collecting money from young students who were seeking admission.
The educational board announced this serious decision on Monday, September 21, 2026, through its official weekly news bulletin released to the public.
The board explained that it took this painful step to clean up its organization and show everybody that bad behavior will not be hidden or accepted inside its offices.
The main reason why JAMB decided to fire the worker is that the person was caught using their office power to collect extra money illegally from candidates who did not know any better.
Over the years, many candidates and parents have complained about bad people outside trying to cheat them during JAMB registration and exam processes.
To make sure students are safe, JAMB decided to turn its searchlight inward to catch and remove any corrupt worker doing bad things behind closed doors.
Giving full details about why the dismissal happened, the management of JAMB made its position clear in the official statement.
The reason for firing the worker: the examination board stated that “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has terminated the appointment of one of its staff members for extorting unsuspecting candidates, in further demonstration of its renewed commitment to flushing out bad eggs from the system”.

Sending a strong warning to all other workers across the country, JAMB said, “Accordingly, the Board once again warned all members of staff to desist from all forms of unwholesome conduct, particularly acts capable of undermining the integrity of the Board or exploiting candidates and members of the public, as such actions would attract severe consequences in accordance with established rules”.
Making it clear that internal workers will face the same judgment as outside criminals, the board noted that “The Board stated that its resolve to sanitise the admission and examination processes is not targeted at external fraudsters alone, stressing that the same determination with which it has relentlessly pursued and dealt with fraudulent elements outside the Board is being brought to bear on internal misconduct”.
Promising never to hide or protect any dishonest employee, the organization stressed that “JAMB stressed that having dealt decisively with external fraudsters who seek to exploit candidates and members of the public, it would not shield or spare any of its own staff members who cross the line or abuse the trust reposed in them”.
