Popular Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has announced that he has left acting to begin a new career in the United States Army.
According to daily post, the actor shared the news on Instagram after completing his military training. He described the achievement as a lifelong dream. He also said the decision honoured the memory of his late father.
Momodu revealed that he officially enlisted on April 12, 2026. The date marked exactly 20 years after his father’s death. As a result, he described the moment as deeply personal.
Furthermore, the actor explained that his late father served in the Nigeria Police Force. He said joining the military allowed him to continue his father’s legacy of service.
However, Momodu admitted that the training was not easy. He faced several challenges and moments of doubt. Still, he remained determined until he completed the programme.
“I went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier,” he wrote while reflecting on the experience.
The actor now serves as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
