NDC Court Ruling: Ex-Delta Speaker ochei Calls Judgment Temporary Setback, Vows Appeal

Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, has described the NDC court ruling as a temporary setback. He insisted the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) would challenge the judgment through the appeal process.

According to a report by Daily Post, Ochei reacted after the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, delivered its decision affecting the party. He maintained that the NDC court ruling would not stop the party from pursuing its political goals.

However, Ochei said the judgment was only one stage of the legal process. He expressed confidence that the appellate court would review the case and reach a different conclusion. He added that the party’s legal team had already begun the necessary steps to file an appeal.

The former Delta Speaker also urged party members and supporters not to lose hope. Instead, he encouraged them to remain united and continue supporting the party despite the NDC court ruling.

According to him, the NDC remains committed to its vision and will continue carrying out lawful political activities while the appeal is pending. He said the party believes justice will prevail when the legal process is completed.

Meanwhile, the Federal High Court in Lokoja recently set aside an earlier judgment that recognised the NDC. The decision prompted the party to reject the verdict and announce plans to challenge it at the Court of Appeal.

Despite the latest development, Ochei maintained that the NDC court ruling would not weaken the party’s resolve. He called on supporters to remain calm and trust the judicial process as the case moves to the next stage.

According to the Daily Post report, the party remains optimistic that the NDC court ruling will eventually be overturned on appeal.
