Osun Election: Former PDP Aspirant Backs Adeleke Ahead of 2026 Poll

A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Adedamola Adebayo, has backed Governor Ademola Adeleke.

According to daily post, Adebayo, popularly known as FRYO, was among those who contested the party’s governorship primary. However, he did not emerge as the PDP candidate for the upcoming Osun election.

The former aspirant has now thrown his weight behind Adeleke as the governor seeks another term. Adebayo’s decision comes as political activities gather momentum across Osun State ahead of the election.

The endorsement could strengthen Adeleke’s position within the PDP as the campaign season approaches. It also signals support from a politician who previously sought the party’s ticket.

Adeleke emerged victorious in the 2022 governorship election and has remained a major force in Osun politics. He is now preparing to defend his position in the forthcoming Osun election.

The governor has continued to highlight his administration’s achievements while seeking support for another term. Meanwhile, political parties are stepping up their preparations across the state.

The contest is expected to be competitive, with different parties seeking to win voters. For the PDP, maintaining unity will be important as Adeleke begins his second-term campaign.

Support from party stakeholders could also help the governor strengthen his political structure. Adebayo’s endorsement comes at a time when political alignments are becoming more visible.

His decision may encourage other PDP members to rally behind the governor. It could also help the party present a more united front before the Osun election.

As the election draws closer, more endorsements and political movements are expected across the state. Adeleke will be hoping to build on his existing support while defending the PDP’s position.

For Adebayo, the latest move puts him firmly behind the governor’s bid for another term. The former aspirant has therefore joined those supporting Adeleke ahead of the crucial Osun election.
