Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has urged his supporters and members of the revolutionary movement to stand with him as he returns to the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has called on his supporters and members of the revolutionary movement to mobilise ahead of his court appearance in Abuja.
Sowore said he would appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday for the continuation of his trial before Justice M.G. Umar. He made the appeal in a statement released on Monday. He described the case as politically motivated and claimed the trial aims to silence his movement.
According to Sowore, the Department of State Services (DSS) filed the case against him. He alleged that the agency acted on behalf of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He argued that the trial seeks to suppress dissent and weaken the momentum of his movement.
However, Sowore insisted that the legal battle would not stop his campaign. Therefore, he urged supporters to attend the court proceedings in Abuja or show solidarity online from different parts of the world.
In addition, the activist reflected on his time at the Kuje Correctional Centre. He thanked his supporters for remaining committed despite what he described as continued pressure from the government.
Meanwhile, Sowore maintained that his movement remains resolute. He said its mission has not changed despite the ongoing legal battle. He added that members would continue pursuing what they describe as the liberation of Nigeria.
Furthermore, the case has continued to attract public attention because of previous court proceedings. Supporters and rights advocates reacted after heavy security and the presence of DSS operatives at earlier hearings.
According to Daily Post,The court proceedings are expected to draw fresh public interest as Sowore and his supporters prepare for another appearance before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
