A member of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Gagdi, has said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi have not done enough to challenge President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to Daily Post, the lawmaker shared his view while speaking about the country’s political landscape.
Speaking on Atiku Peter Obi 2027, Gagdi said the opposition leaders have yet to make the kind of political moves that could convince Nigerians they are ready to take power. He argued that public criticism alone would not produce electoral victory.
He said any candidate hoping to defeat an incumbent president must build a strong political structure. Such a candidate must also reach voters in different parts of the country. Gagdi maintained that those efforts are not yet visible.
The lawmaker added that time still remains before the next general election. However, he insisted that the opposition cannot rely on political statements alone. Instead, it must present a clear strategy and sustain engagement with Nigerians.
Gagdi also said Atiku Peter Obi 2027 will depend on preparation rather than ambition. He stressed that successful campaigns require organisation, grassroots support and consistent political work.
According to him, Nigerians will judge every contender by actions instead of promises. He said opposition leaders still have an opportunity to strengthen their position before campaigning gathers momentum.
For now, Gagdi believes Atiku Peter Obi 2027 has not reached the level needed to unseat President Tinubu. He said the months ahead will reveal whether the opposition can turn its political ambitions into concrete action.
