Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin sacked his media aide Umar Alhassan for posting disrespect messages against Kano Governor Abba Yusuf.
The Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has officially fired one of his senior assistants after the assistant posted messages on social media criticizing the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The official statement announcing the sack of the worker was released from the National Assembly office in Abuja on Friday, September 18, 2026.
The worker who lost his job is Mr. Umar Alhassan, who is widely known by many young people on the internet as King Indara.
The official letter showed that his job as Special Legislative Aide to the Deputy Senate President was ended with immediate effect on Friday because he used his personal social media page to post words asking the Kano State Governor to leave office.
The Deputy Senate President dismissed his assistant quickly because the online posts showed bad character, a lack of discipline, and deep disrespect toward the leader of Kano State.
The assistant wrote the words “Abba Must Go” on his Facebook page, while also making comments about political leaders in the state.

Senator Barau Jibrin explained that his office stands for respect, good manners, and peaceful politics. He added that any worker who writes bad things to insult elected leaders or bring trouble between political groups is going against the rules of his office and the rules of the ruling All Progressives Congress party.
Explaining the exact decision taken by the office, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Deputy Senate President, Shitu Madaki Kunchi, gave clear statements to the public.
Releasing the official announcement on behalf of the senator, Shitu Madaki Kunchi stated that “following social media posts made by one of the aides in the office of the Deputy President of the Senate, which showed indiscipline and disrespect, he has been relieved of his duty”.
Confirming the exact date and details of the dismissal, the official spokesperson noted, “Therefore, we hereby announce his dismissal from his position as an aide in the office of the Distinguished Deputy President of the Senate, specifically as a Special Legislative Aide, with effect from today, September 18, 2026”.
Offering prayers for unity among political members in the state and across the nation, the statement concluded by noting, “We pray that Almighty Allah grants the APC success from the national level down to the grassroots”.
