Several NDC aspirants in Abia State have accused party leaders of selling House of Representatives tickets to the highest bidders.
The aspirants made the allegation ahead of the 2027 general elections. They claimed the party ignored fairness during its candidate selection process.
According to Sahara Reporters, the aggrieved members said some party leaders favoured wealthy contenders over other aspirants. They argued that money influenced the outcome of the exercise.
The NDC aspirants expressed disappointment with the process. They said many members prepared for a competitive contest and expected a level playing field.
However, they alleged that certain candidates received special treatment. As a result, many party members have questioned the credibility of the selection process.
The aspirants also claimed that proper primaries did not hold in some constituencies. Instead, party officials allegedly announced candidates without allowing delegates to vote.
Consequently, many members felt excluded from a process that should have reflected their choices. They argued that such actions weakened confidence in the party.
Furthermore, the group accused some leaders of sidelining loyal members. According to them, competence and grassroots support counted less than financial influence.
Meanwhile, concerns continue to grow within the party. The NDC aspirants warned that unresolved grievances could deepen internal divisions before future elections.
In addition, they called on the party leadership to review the entire process. They urged officials to investigate the allegations and restore confidence among members.
The aspirants maintained that transparent primaries would strengthen the party. They also said accountability remains essential for unity and growth.
Nevertheless, the party leadership had not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
