Onjeh Shocks APC, Declares “I’m Obidient” After Meeting Kwankwaso

Daniel Onjeh has shocked members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, after publicly declaring his support for the Obidient movement.

Onjeh made the declaration while meeting former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Daily Post, the former APC senatorial aspirant openly identified himself as an Obidient during the meeting with Kwankwaso. The development could create fresh political uncertainty for the APC in Benue State.

Onjeh previously contested the APC ticket for the Benue South Senatorial District. However, his latest declaration suggests that his political allegiance may have shifted ahead of the next general election.

The Obidient movement is largely associated with Peter Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party.

Onjeh’s meeting with Kwankwaso has also fueled speculation about his next political move. Kwankwaso remains an influential figure in Nigeria’s opposition politics. He contested the 2023 presidential election under the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.

Meanwhile, politicians across the country are already positioning themselves for the 2027 elections. Several political figures have changed alliances as parties begin preparations for the next presidential contest.

Onjeh’s latest move is therefore likely to attract attention, especially in Benue South. The senatorial district remains an important political battleground in Benue State. Any major shift among prominent politicians could affect the region’s political calculations.

His declaration also comes as opposition politicians continue discussions about possible alliances ahead of 2027. For now, it remains unclear whether Onjeh will formally leave the APC or join another political party.

However, his public declaration that he is “Obidient” has already raised questions about his political future. His meeting with Kwankwaso has further intensified those questions.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, more politicians are expected to make their positions known. Onjeh’s latest move could therefore be an early sign of bigger political realignments ahead.
