UAE updates jobseeker visa rules, letting qualified graduates and skilled workers stay up to 120 days to find jobs without sponsors.
The government of the United Arab Emirates(UAE) has released new rules for foreign workers who want to enter the country to search for work without having a local host or employer sponsor them first.
Official notices released by government channels give clear guidance to foreign citizens on what they need to apply for this job exploration entry visa.
Under the updated announcement, eligible jobseekers can now apply to enter the country on a single trip visit visa that stays valid for 60 days, 90 days, or 120 days.
This special visa type gives travelers time to travel around the country, attend job interviews in person, and meet hiring managers directly. Explaining the updated conditions, the UAE Government stated:
“Foreigners are granted a visit visa to search for a job without requiring a host/sponsor in the country, for one trip. You can apply for a job-seeker visa with a validity of either 60, 90 or 120 days.”
However, officials warned that holding this visitor permit does not mean a person can start working immediately. Under local labor laws, any person who finds employment during their stay must first obtain an official work permit and an employment visa before starting their new job duties.
Explaining the strict requirements for foreign applicants, the UAE Government added:
“To get a visit visa for the purpose of exploring job opportunities, the applicant must fulfil the following conditions.”
To qualify, an applicant must belong to the first, second, or third skill level under the job ratings set by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
Alternatively, young applicants who are graduates must have finished their studies at one of the world’s top 500 universities listed by the Ministry of Education.
The authorities pointed out that applicants using the university pathway must have graduated within the last two years.
Every applicant must also hold at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, present an attested school certificate, submit a clear color photo, provide a valid passport copy, and pay the required financial security deposit.

Applicants can submit their papers online through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai or through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security.
This update follows broader changes in Middle East labor policies designed to pull top global talent into key business cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
