The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, has assured Nigerians that the days of ballot box snatching and result manipulation are over ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to Daily Post, Amupitan gave the assurance while speaking on the commission’s preparations for the next general election. He said INEC has strengthened its processes to protect the credibility of the polls and improve public confidence.
Speaking on the 2027 election ballot box issue, Amupitan said the commission has introduced reforms that will make it much harder for anyone to interfere with votes or alter election results. He expressed confidence that the measures would help deliver a more transparent electoral process.
He also called on political parties, candidates and voters to play their part by obeying the Electoral Act and following INEC’s guidelines. According to him, every stakeholder has a role in ensuring peaceful and credible elections.
Amupitan added that the commission remains committed to conducting free, fair and transparent elections across the country. He said INEC would continue improving its systems to safeguard the votes cast by Nigerians.
The INEC chairman reiterated that the 2027 election ballot box era of snatching and result changing has come to an end. He expressed confidence that the commission’s reforms would strengthen trust in the electoral process and ensure that every valid vote counts.
