Governor Uba Sani has criticised the 2027 opposition, saying many opposition parties are more interested in pursuing personal ambitions than providing a credible alternative for Nigerians ahead of the next general election.
According to Daily Post, the Kaduna State governor made the remarks while reacting to the current political developments and realignments ahead of the 2027 elections. He argued that the opposition has not shown the level of seriousness Nigerians expect from those seeking to challenge the ruling party.
Sani said many opposition leaders are focused on their individual interests instead of working together for a common purpose. He maintained that this has made it difficult for them to build a united front capable of presenting a strong and convincing alternative to the electorate.
He added that political parties hoping to win the confidence of Nigerians must be united by a shared vision rather than personal ambitions. According to him, the constant disagreements and competing interests within the opposition have weakened their ability to act as a coordinated political force.
The governor also insisted that the 2027 opposition lacks seriousness because many of its members are driven by personal goals. He said Nigerians are paying close attention to political events and can judge whether leaders are working for the public interest or simply advancing their own ambitions.
Sani defended the ruling party, saying politics should be centred on governance, good ideas and service to the people. He stressed that healthy political competition should be based on performance and policies instead of endless political disputes and personal rivalries.
He further urged politicians across the country to place national development above personal interests. According to him, leaders should focus on issues that directly affect Nigerians rather than allowing individual ambitions to shape political decisions.
The 2027 opposition has remained a major topic of discussion as political parties continue consultations and coalition talks ahead of the next general election.
The political activities are expected to continue as preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace across the country.
