2027: Umeh Says Nigerians Want New Political Thinking

Senator Victor Umeh has said Nigerians want new political thinking ahead of the 2027 general election while reacting to former Borno State Governor Ali Modu Sheriff’s comments about Peter Obi.

Umeh said Ali Modu Sheriff’s approach reflects outdated political thinking, adding that Nigeria’s political environment has changed.

Umeh made the statement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today while responding to Sheriff’s remarks about Peter Obi and his political activities.

According to the senator, many Nigerians are now interested in leaders who can provide solutions, promote accountability, and improve governance. He said voters are paying more attention to competence and leadership qualities.

Furthermore, Umeh defended Peter Obi’s political movement, saying it focuses on transparency, responsible leadership, and economic development.

He rejected claims that Peter Obi’s support is based on sectional interests. Instead, he maintained that the former Anambra State governor’s message appeals to Nigerians who want better governance.

Umeh also said political discussions should focus on issues that affect citizens rather than old strategies. He urged leaders to present clear ideas and solutions that can address the challenges facing the country.

The senator added that young Nigerians are becoming more involved in political conversations. According to him, many citizens now demand accountability and effective leadership from those seeking political positions.

Meanwhile, Umeh maintained that the future of Nigerian politics depends on leaders who understand the expectations of the people.
