Nigerian singer Mayorkun says he must sign a prenup and do DNA tests on his kids to ensure true peace of mind.

Popular Nigerian singer and Afrobeats star, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, who many music lovers know as Mayorkun, has revealed that he will insist on signing a prenuptial agreement before marriage and doing a DNA test on his children to protect his peace of mind.

The music star made this clear during an appearance on the In My Opinion podcast on Monday, October 5, 2026.

Mayorkun explained that men are now living in a new age where they must take careful steps to protect their money and avoid raising children who do not belong to them biologically.

He noted that both a prenuptial agreement, which is a legal paper signed before marriage to protect a person’s property, and a paternity test are very necessary steps for any modern man.

Speaking about how serious the matter has become in recent times, Mayorkun warned other men about the risks involved in relationships nowadays.

Comparing paternity tests directly to prenuptial agreements, Mayorkun stated: “Bro, if you don’t sign prenup, you go regret am, man. This one na new batch of jezeebels. Now, so whether you’re doing prenup, do DNA.”

The singer recalled a serious conversation he once had with a woman he was dating, where he brought up the idea of doing a DNA test when they eventually have children.

He revealed that the woman became very angry and upset, even though he tried to explain that he was only doing it for his own personal comfort and peace.

Recalling how he presented the request to her, Mayorkun said: “I told my girlfriend we’d have to do a prenup and DNA test when she gives me a child, just to be sure. She got upset.”

He admitted that having such a discussion with a partner is extremely difficult, adding: “I hope you will not take it as maybe I don’t trust. I would just like to have that peace of mind. I don’t think there’s one woman on this earth that will take it nicely.”

When asked if loving a woman deeply should make a man trust her enough to skip a DNA test, Mayorkun refused to change his mind.

He explained that love alone cannot protect a man from being deceived into raising a child that is not his own.

Answering the question directly, Mayorkun said: “You think that person that gave that man a bastard child doesn’t love? Bro, that’s true. I can’t just give. It’s too much of a risk, man. Omo, this thing is like probably the hardest part of the thing, but I think you need to do it, man.”

Mayorkun referenced sad stories on the internet where men spent many years raising children only to discover late in life that they were not the real fathers.

Reflecting on those painful stories, Mayorkun said: “Think about the way the man that found out that two of his kids… at the age of 18. It’s really, really deep. I’ve seen grown men break down online, bro.”

To avoid such a painful heartbreak, Mayorkun suggested that a man could even do the test secretly without telling his woman. He insisted that his position would not change because any woman who truly loves him should accept it for his peace of mind.

Concluding his point, Mayorkun stated: “I have thought of doing the DNA test without telling her. If it is my child, no issues. If not, everybody will hear about it. That might be the best thing. If you love me too… for my peace of mind.”
