Former President Goodluck Jonathan will unveil a new tricycle assembly factory and local transport products in Abuja on Wednesday, October 21.

Former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, is scheduled to officially unveil a brand-new tricycle manufacturing factory alongside its local product line in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The high-profile commissioning ceremony is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at the Idu Industrial Area in Abuja.

The industrial project, established by engineering firm Zeetin Technologies, was set up to make transportation cheaper for small business owners, market traders, farmers, and artisans across the country.

During the official launch event, former President Goodluck Jonathan will serve as the chairman of the occasion and perform the formal unveiling of the assembly plant and two major tricycle models, named the VZ150 and the VZ200.

The assembly plant was built through a technical partnership with VIAR Motor Indonesia, an international company with over thirty years of experience in engineering 3 wheeler transport vehicles.

According to an official company release signed by the Chairman of Zeetin Technologies, Barrister Robert Azibaola, the name “Zeetin” translates to “for you,” representing a company commitment to build products that help every buyer succeed.

Explaining why the company chose to build local 3 wheelers in Abuja to support everyday traders and workers, Chairman Robert Azibaola stated: “We are producing tricycles here in Nigeria to make it easier and cheaper for Nigeria’s small businesses to move goods and people.”

He explained that these new tricycles were specially built to carry heavy goods and passengers, helping market women move food items, farmers bring fresh crops from farms into town, and artisans carry tools easily.

Describing how important tricycles have become for everyday business operations in the country, Azibaola noted: “The tricycle is the working vehicle of the market trader, the farmer bringing produce to town, the artisan, the distributor’s last mile, and the commuter corridor.”

He added that building vehicles locally inside Nigeria creates good job opportunities, trains local engineers, and keeps money inside the country rather than sending funds abroad to import finished goods.

Emphasizing the economic benefits created by setting up a local assembly line, the company chief stated: “The economic case is a local one. Every unit built at our factory carries Nigerian labor and Nigerian value: technicians trained at VIAR’s works in Semarang and now working in Abuja; quality, planning, sales and after-sales staff; and around them, a growing network of dealers, service workshops and parts traders.”

Azibaola also revealed that early customers will receive their vehicles on the launch day, while the company prepares to transition into building electric models and vehicles powered by Compressed Natural Gas in the future.

Describing the whole project as a proud achievement for local manufacturing, the statement added: “The first units built on the floor are handed to their owners on the day of the launch, and with those that follow comes deeper local content, Components, and in time, compressed natural gas and electric models, that turn a factory in Abuja into a production industry for Nigeria and Nigerians.”

Concluding his statement on the upcoming ceremony, Robert Azibaola declared: “This is a story of Nigerian industry being built at home: a new manufacturing plant in Abuja’s industrial district, built to serve the traders, farmers and commuters of the country.”

Business associations and transport unions across Abuja are preparing to attend the official commissioning ceremony.
