Abia police arraigned Uzoma Uwaeme in court for allegedly stripping, tying, and beating his 13 year old son under the sun.
The Abia State Police Command has taken a father named Uzoma Uwaeme to court after officers arrested him for allegedly tying up, stripping naked, and heavily beating his 13 year old biological son.
The arrest and court arraignment took place in Aba, Abia State, after a shocking video showing the painful treatment of the young boy spread quickly across social media platforms.
Police officers from the Abayi Divisional Police Headquarters tracked down and arrested the father at his house located on Nwokocha Street, off Udeabara Road in Aba, following direct orders from the Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi.
The main reason police officers moved fast to arrest and charge Mr. Uzoma Uwaeme to court is that the severe punishment he gave his young child caused great public anger and broke child protection laws in Nigeria.
Neighbors and online viewers raised alarm after watching the trending video clip, which showed the teenager bound tightly with thick ropes, covered in injuries, stripped of his clothes, and left helpless under the hot sun.
Police reports revealed that the young victim lived alone with his father and stepmother after his biological mother left the marriage years ago.
Medical workers have already treated the injured child, and police officers confirmed that the boy is now safe and recovering in a stable condition.

Speaking through an official statement released to journalists to explain the incident and court steps, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Abia State Command, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, shared important details regarding the suspect and the young boy.
Explaining how police officers stepped in to save the teenager and handle the father, DSP Maureen Chinaka stated, “The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation, as the suspect is in Police custody”.
Condemning the heavy beating and cruel treatment of the young boy, Commissioner of Police CP Wilfred Afolabi described the act as “inhumane, barbaric, and a gross violation of the rights of the child”.
Reassuring the public that nobody is above the law when it comes to harming young children, CP Afolabi emphasized “the Command’s zero tolerance for all forms of child abuse and domestic violence, and assured the public that the suspect will be prosecuted in accordance with the law”. Police officers have moved the case to court so the father can answer for his actions.
