ADC has alleged that the APC is holding former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai because of the 2027 elections.Bolaji Abdullahi says the move is aimed at weakening the opposition before the next general election.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that the APC is holding former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai because of the 2027 elections.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the allegation while speaking on the former governor’s continued detention.
According to Abdullahi, APC holding El-Rufai because of 2027 elections is a calculated political move. He claimed the ruling party believes El-Rufai poses a major challenge to its chances in the 2027 general elections because of his influence within the opposition.
Furthermore, Abdullahi alleged that the Federal Government is placing political interests above governance. He argued that the administration is more concerned about retaining power than addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
He also claimed that keeping El-Rufai in detention would weaken the opposition and reduce its ability to mobilise support ahead of the next election. However, he did not provide evidence to support the allegation.
Abdullahi further criticised the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying many Nigerians are yet to feel its impact. He urged the government to focus on improving security, the economy and the welfare of citizens instead of engaging in political battles.
Meanwhile, the APC has not officially responded to the allegation. El-Rufai remains the subject of ongoing legal proceedings, and his detention continues to generate reactions from political stakeholders across the country.
As stated by daily post,The allegation has added to growing political debates ahead of the 2027 general elections, with observers closely monitoring developments involving the former Kaduna State governor.
