Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has released evidence following his invitation by the Nigeria Police Force.
The development comes after VDM made controversial claims during the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to Daily Post, the activist shared a video on Thursday while responding to the police invitation over his comments at the conference.
VDM had alleged that some police officers at checkpoints provide information about wealthy travellers to kidnappers. He claimed such information could help criminals identify potential victims and determine who might be able to pay a ransom.
The allegation sparked a reaction from the Nigeria Police Force, which asked VDM to provide evidence to support his claims. The Force described the allegation as serious and said it should not be made without supporting facts.
Following the invitation, VDM released a video which he presented as evidence backing his claims. The activist also maintained that he was ready to defend his allegations.
However, VDM reportedly indicated that he would prefer to present some of his evidence before a court rather than submit everything during police questioning.
He questioned the urgency of the police response to his comments. The social media critic also insisted that his concerns were linked to the worsening security situation across Nigeria.
According to VDM, Nigerians deserve answers about how criminals obtain information about potential kidnapping victims. He argued that his comments should not be dismissed simply because they were made during an NBA conference.
The activist also pointed to the importance of investigating allegations involving security personnel. Meanwhile, the police have maintained that its officers are responsible for protecting citizens and fighting criminal activities.
The Force also highlighted the risks faced by police personnel while confronting kidnappers, terrorists and other violent criminals. It stated that officers found to have collaborated with criminals would face disciplinary measures and prosecution.
The police invitation followed VDM’s remarks at a gathering attended by lawyers, judges and other legal professionals. His comments generated considerable attention because of the serious nature of the allegations.
VDM has since doubled down on his position by releasing material he believes supports his claims. The latest development has therefore intensified the dispute between the activist and the police.
While the police wants VDM to substantiate his allegations, the activist insists that he has evidence to support what he said.
The situation could lead to further developments if the police decides to question him formally or pursue the matter through legal channels.
