The Gombe State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. The party accused him of approving an alleged N315 million gift and four plots of land for a Kano-based musician. It said the reported decision raises fresh questions about government spending.
According to SaharaReporters, the Gombe PDP claimed it received credible information about the approvals. The party alleged that the government approved N115 million to buy a Toyota Coaster bus. It also claimed the musician received a cash grant of N200 million. The PDP said both approvals amount to N315 million.
The opposition argued that the alleged spending came at the wrong time. It said many residents still struggle with poor public services. The party pointed to challenges in education, healthcare and infrastructure. It insisted that public funds should address those needs first.
The Gombe PDP also alleged that the government allocated four plots of land in the Shehu Abubakar District Layout. It claimed the allocation has sparked concern among residents. The party noted that some landowners recently lost their properties in the same area. It added that those affected reportedly received no compensation.
Furthermore, the opposition questioned the reason for the alleged support. It said the government should explain how it reached the decision. The party argued that transparency remains important in the management of public resources. It also called for greater accountability.
However, the Gombe State Government had not responded to the allegations when this report was filed. The claims remain allegations by the opposition party. They have not been independently verified.
The Gombe PDP maintained that it will continue to demand accountability. It said the people of Gombe deserve responsible leadership. The party also urged the government to use public resources wisely.
