The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has promised that security officers will arrive at any crime scene within five minutes when citizens call for help.
The governor gave this public assurance on Sunday, September 6, 2026, while speaking to church members during a Sunday worship service in Benin City.
The gathering took place at the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, located along Sapele Road. Church members, local community leaders, and government officials listened as the governor shared his new plans to protect families and businesses.
To make this fast help work, the state government will soon release special emergency telephone numbers that anyone can call free of charge whenever bad people try to cause trouble.
The main reason why Governor Okpebholo is setting up this quick 5 minute emergency response is to end bad crimes like kidnapping, armed robbery, and cult violence across the state.
For a long time, criminals have made life hard for traders, farmers, and families in many local communities. The governor explained that his government wants to make sure people can walk freely, sleep with their eyes closed, and do their business without fear.
Under this new safety plan, police officers, soldiers, and local security teams will stay at strategic places so they can move fast whenever a distress call comes in. The state government wants Edo State to become much safer within the next 30 days.
The governor urged all residents to save the new emergency numbers on their mobile phones as soon as they are made public.
Explaining the new security plan during his address to the church, the governor stated his firm promise to protect every neighborhood.
Giving details on his administration’s plan for safety, Monday Okpebholo stated that “we will continue to work for Edo people. In terms of security, Edo will be safer in the next month. We will be able to respond to security threats in any part of the state within 5 minutes”.
Reassuring church members and community members about his goal for the state, the governor added that the government wants to clear out all criminals.
Expressing his commitment to peaceful living, Monday Okpebholo noted that “the administration’s goal was to make Edo safer than it met it by tackling kidnapping, robbery and other criminal activities”.
The governor also visited the Rock of Ages Christian Assembly along Sapele Road to share his vision for peace and good roads across Edo State.
