Atiku, ADC can’t bounce back from Babachir Lawal’s damage – Imran Wakili*

 

Former presidential aspirant Imran Wakili has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) faces a difficult period following Babachir Lawal’s exit from the party.

He also claimed the development could affect former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s political plans ahead of the 2027 election.

 

According to Daily Post, Wakili described the Babachir Lawal ADC development as a major setback for the party. He argued that the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation played a vital role in building support for the ADC.

 

Wakili said Lawal helped attract influential politicians and strengthen the party’s structure. He added that replacing someone with his political experience would be a difficult task.

 

Meanwhile, he insisted that the issue has created fresh concerns within the party. He said the ADC must rebuild unity if it hopes to remain competitive before the next general election.

 

Speaking further, Wakili claimed Atiku’s political camp would also feel the impact of the development. He argued that Lawal’s exit could slow efforts to expand support across key parts of the country.

 

However, Wakili said the future remains in the hands of the party’s leadership. He urged stakeholders to focus on unity instead of allowing internal disagreements to deepen.

 

Political activities have continued to intensify as parties prepare for the 2027 elections. Several politicians have also changed political camps in recent months, creating fresh alliances and new rivalries.

 

Wakili maintained that the Babachir Lawal ADC debate could influence future political alignments. He said the party must respond quickly to restore confidence among its supporters.
