Nigerian developer Shalom has created a viral simulation game called Lagos Life that allows young people to experience everyday Lagos life online.

A new online game called Lagos Life, created by a talented Nigerian developer named Shalom, is taking over the internet and attracting thousands of young people across Nigeria.

The exciting life-simulation game, which launched online in early October 2026, allows players to experience the everyday hustle, work, money management, and fun of living in Lagos State right from their phones and laptop screens.

Unlike big international video games that require heavy downloads, Lagos Life runs smoothly inside simple web browsers, making it very easy for anyone with an internet connection to join the fun.

The game works just like real life in the bustling city of Lagos. Once a player logs in, they start as a resident in the virtual city and must check their account to see how much money they have.

Players who start with low funds must quickly look for a job to earn income, pay rent for their rooms, buy food, and stay healthy.

The game features familiar local spots, music, popular financial slang, and daily activities that make players feel like they are walking down real Lagos streets.

Explaining why the online game became popular so fast among youth, tech media reports noted that: “Part of Lagos Life’s appeal lies in that familiarity”.

Reports highlighted that the game’s “humour, financial labels, social locations, music and everyday activities give young Nigerians a version of Lagos they already understand, while allowing them to experience it without the physical constraints of the city”.

The game became an even bigger topic of conversation online after players discovered a temporary financial exploit inside the virtual world, leading to funny internet memes and fake money giveaways on social media.

The developer, Shalom, quickly stepped in to fix the issue, reset the exploited funds, and balance the game’s economy so everyone could play fairly.

Speaking on how he handled the sudden surge of players and fixed the game’s virtual money system, developer Shalom responded by “resetting the exploited funds and restoring legitimate player balances, while promising fixes to prevent the exploit from continuing”.

Lagos Life has successfully turned the daily struggles and energy of the nation’s commercial capital into a fun digital playground.

Observers noted that for a young generation used to seeing Lagos on TikTok and Instagram, the game offers a fresh space where they can enter, work, build wealth, and play together online.
