Police in Ogun State have arrested a man accused of assaulting a six-year-old girl in Odo Pako after finishing prayers at a mosque.
A man has been arrested by police officers in Odo Pako, located in the Akeja area of Ogun State, following serious allegations that he harmed and assaulted a six-year-old girl.
The disturbing incident took place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, shortly after the suspect finished his prayers at a local mosque in the neighborhood.
According to accounts from community members and eyewitnesses in the area, the suspect had come to the location specifically to attend prayers at the mosque.
However, immediately after finishing his worship session, he approached the little girl who was nearby and allegedly inserted his finger into her private body parts.
People living in the area who witnessed the event or noticed the child in distress quickly moved in to stop the suspect from escaping.
The angry residents confronted the man, stripped off his clothes during the commotion, and held him down before alerting local security operatives.
Giving details of how the suspect was caught and handed over, local reports confirmed that “the man was reportedly apprehended by residents, who stripped him during the confrontation before later handing him over to the police for further investigation”.
Explaining what happened after the suspect was brought into police custody, officers immediately locked up the suspect to prevent mob action and carry out proper medical and legal checks.
Describing the immediate steps taken by law enforcement to ensure a thorough investigation, official police sources stated that “the suspect has been arrested and detained for alleged defilement”.
Police representatives further confirmed that “he will be transferred to the State CID in Abeokuta immediately after the preliminary investigation is completed”.
