Police in Canada arrested a Nigerian tech recruiter named Ebunoluwa Tomiwa for human trafficking and sexual offenses after he turned himself in.
A Nigerian man working as a technology recruiter in Canada has been taken by the law after being accused of forcing people into sex work.
The 33 year old man, identified as Ebunoluwa Tomiwa, who also goes by the street nickname “Boon,” was recently taken into custody by Canadian law enforcement officers.
Authorities declared him a wanted man after discovering his alleged involvement in a dark business that abuses vulnerable people for money.
The arrest took place in the city of Hamilton, Ontario. After noticing that the police were actively searching for him everywhere, the suspect decided he had nowhere to run.

Police Service released an official statement confirming that they finally have him locked up. Detailing his surrender, the police stated:
“Hamilton Police have arrested Ebunoluwa Tomiwa after he turned himself into Police earlier this morning. Tomiwa will be appearing in court for a bail hearing.”
Before his arrest, Ebunoluwa Tomiwa presented himself to the public as a professional working a good corporate job.
According to his online profile on LinkedIn, he claimed to be a tech recruiter working for a well-known company called TEKsystems, helping people find jobs in the computer and software industry.
However, the police discovered that behind this professional image, he was allegedly running an illegal operation where he trapped people and forced them to provide sexual services to make money for him.
To make sure his victims could not escape and go back home or report him to the authorities, he allegedly seized their important personal papers, like passports and identity cards.
The police did not take this lightly, as taking away someone’s freedom is one of the heaviest crimes in Canada. Listing the exact crimes he is facing in court, the Hamilton police noted:
“Ebunoluwa Tomiwa, 33 years old, of Belleville was arrested for the following charges; Trafficking in Persons, Procuring for Sexual Services, Material Benefit, Trafficking of Persons and Withholding Documents.”
The security officials are still digging deep into the matter because they strongly suspect that he did not commit these crimes against just one person.
The detectives working on the case believe that because of how he operated, there are likely other innocent people out there who suffered quietly under his control.
The authorities are now pleading with the public, asking anyone who might have been abused by this man to come out of hiding and report their experiences.
Reassuring victims that they will be protected if they speak up, the police added:
“Investigators believe there may be additional victims and encourage anyone who may have information, or who believes they may have been victimized, to come forward and speak with investigators.”
This disturbing event adds to a growing list of strict crackdowns by the Canadian government to protect people from modern-day slavery.
Law enforcement agencies in North America have been heavily tracking down criminal rings that exploit immigrants and vulnerable citizens.
For now, the suspect remains in police custody and will have to stand before a judge to see if he will be allowed to go home on bail while the trial continues, or if he will remain in a prison cell until the court decides his final punishment.
