Northern Security Trust Fund gets ACF’s backing

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has commended northern governors for launching the Northern Security Trust Fund, describing the initiative as a bold step toward addressing insecurity across the region.

The forum said the move reflects the governors’ commitment to improving security through collaboration and sustainable funding.

According to the ACF, the Northern Security Trust Fund can strengthen efforts to combat banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and other violent crimes. Furthermore, the forum said the initiative would improve intelligence gathering, support security agencies and enhance coordination among security stakeholders.

Meanwhile, ACF urged state governments, traditional rulers, community leaders, security agencies and the private sector to support the fund. It stressed that lasting peace requires collective responsibility and continuous cooperation from all stakeholders.

In addition, the forum called for transparency and accountability in managing the Northern Security Trust Fund. It noted that proper implementation would build public confidence and ensure the initiative achieves its objectives.

Therefore, the fund is expected to complement federal efforts to restore peace and improve security across Northern Nigeria.

Finally, ACF expressed optimism that the initiative would deliver lasting results if stakeholders remain committed.
