Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has spoken about his 2027 ambition, saying he is not desperate to become Nigeria’s president.
Obi made the statement during an interview while discussing his political plans ahead of the 2027 general election. He said his interest is not simply about occupying the presidency but about ensuring Nigeria works for its citizens.
According to Obi, his desire to lead Nigeria is based on his belief that the country needs better governance and solutions to its challenges. He maintained that becoming president is not about personal ambition or the pursuit of power.
He added that if his only goal was to become president, there would be easier ways to achieve it. Instead, he said his focus remains on making Nigeria better for its people.
Meanwhile, Obi said President Bola Tinubu is tired and should return home. He argued that the country needs leadership that can address its challenges and deliver results for Nigerians.
Obi also stressed the importance of creating opportunities for Nigerians and ensuring that public resources are managed responsibly. He said the country’s progress depends on responsible leadership and policies that prioritise citizens’ welfare.
He maintained that his ambition is driven by the desire to see Nigeria succeed rather than a desperate search for political power.
