Peter Obi INEC Portal has drawn fresh attention after the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) confirmed it uploaded the former Anambra governor’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. The development came despite the court judgment ordering the party’s deregistration.
According to Daily Post, the party took the step after filing an application for a stay of execution. It wants the court to suspend enforcement of the judgment while its appeal is being considered.
The party said it finally gained access to INEC’s candidate nomination platform. As a result, it completed the Peter Obi INEC Portal process. It added that the move would protect its participation in preparations for the 2027 general election.
Speaking on the development, NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, said the party had earlier struggled to access the portal. However, he said the issue had been resolved. He added that Peter Obi’s details were uploaded successfully.
The spokesman also expressed confidence that the court would grant the application for a stay of execution. Meanwhile, he insisted that the legal battle over the party’s deregistration is far from over.
The party maintained that it would remain in the electoral process while pursuing its appeal. It also said it would continue its political activities until the court reaches a final decision.
