Lagos police arrested four robbery suspects in Mushin, recovering 25 phones, two laptops, gold jewellery, and cutlasses.
Police officers from the Violent Crime Response Unit of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four young men suspected of being dangerous armed robbers who steal from residents.
The police team caught the four suspects at their secret hideout in the Idi Oro area of Mushin, Lagos State. The arrest happened on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, after police officers followed secret reports and monitored the movements of the suspects for several days.
The 4 men arrested by the police were identified as 28 year old Damilare Oluwatobi, 30 year old Lekan Adenuga, 22 year old Haruna Sheriff, and 24 year old David Balogun.
Before their arrest, the syndicate was attacking and stealing from innocent people around the Iju Ishaga and Oke Aro neighborhoods in Lagos State.
The main reason why the police raided the secret house and locked up the young men is that they were using dangerous weapons to attack people and take away their valuable belongings.
When police officers searched the room where the suspects were hiding, they found twenty-five stolen mobile phones, two laptop computers, gold necklaces and earrings, and three sharp cutlasses.
In Nigeria, it is a serious crime to carry cutlasses to threaten people or steal property that belongs to others. The police took all four suspects into custody so they can lead officers to other gang members who are still running away.
Commending the police team for a job well done, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police praised the officers for catching the suspects quickly.
Explaining how the arrest happened, police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi released an official statement to tell the public about the operation. Confirming the recovery of stolen items, the police spokesperson stated that “operatives recovered 25 mobile phones, two laptop computers, a gold necklace and earrings, as well as three cutlasses during a search of the suspects’ hideout”.
Praising the operational team for moving fast on secret information, Commissioner of Police CP Tijani Fatai commended the officers.
Reassuring residents that police will keep Lagos safe for everyone, the Police Commissioner praised the team for their “swift response and intelligence led investigation”. Police officers are working hard to catch the remaining members of the criminal gang.
