A junior policeman in Niger State petitioned the Police Commissioner after a senior officer slapped him twice while on duty.
A junior police officer serving under the Niger State Police Command has officially sent a written petition to the Commissioner of Police complaining about an attack by his senior boss.
The junior policeman revealed that his superior officer physically assaulted him by slapping his face two times while he was actively performing his official duties.
The formal complaint was reported on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, after the junior officer decided not to keep quiet about the unjust treatment he suffered in front of his colleagues.
The incident happened at a police duty post in Niger State, where both officers were assigned to handle official security operations.
The reason why the junior officer wrote the petition to the highest police boss in Niger State is to demand justice, protection, and proper punishment for the senior officer.
In the Nigeria Police Force, senior officers are expected to guide and correct junior officers using established administrative rules, not by using physical violence or slapping their faces.
The aggrieved policeman stated in his letter that being slapped twice in public destroyed his dignity and caused him emotional distress.
He also explained that if junior officers are allowed to be beaten by senior officers without consequences, it will ruin discipline and create fear among lower-ranking policemen across the command.

Explaining what happened during the embarrassing incident, the junior officer detailed how his senior boss lost his temper without any lawful reason.
Describing the painful event in his formal petition, the junior police officer stated clearly how the physical assault took place at the duty station.
Demanding urgent investigation from the state leadership, the junior officer wrote that “the senior officer approached me while I was performing my official duties and slapped me twice on my face without any lawful justification”.
Insisting that the act violated police regulations and human dignity, the officer urged the police authority to take decisive disciplinary steps against the senior colleague.
Asking the state police chief to intervene, he added that “I am appealing to the Commissioner of Police to investigate this matter thoroughly and ensure that justice is served to prevent such abuse of power in the force”. The Niger State Police Command has received the official petition and initiated internal disciplinary checks.
